I recently had the pleasure of working with a few of our seniors in one of our senior Clinics. I watched each one swing and listened to their comments. I was surprised to find that none of these players were properly fitted for the equipment they were using. One of the players was swinging an iron with a graphite shaft. He was having a hard time getting the clubhead to the ball with any speed. After watching for a few minutes I excused myself to the Pro Shop to bring this Player a LIFELINE.
I must say that we are are all on a quest to play the best golf we can. Executing a good shot is something to be very proud of and truly warms the heart.
The LIFELINE I brought was simply a club with a shaft that DID fit the Player's swing. When I handed it to him I explained the the shaft he was using was to soft and therefore to hard for him to make solid contact with the ball. He made a swing and did not believe the result. The ball flew high and straight to the target. of course He thought that was an accident so He did it 5 more time in a row. WOW, a shaft can make that much difference. YES IT CAN.
I ask each of the Seniors to hit the club with similar results.
I am your Golf Professional. It is my job to help you make good decisions about the equipment you play. I take that job seriously. When you need to change golf equipment, please come to see me.
See you on the practice tee.
